Gotcha Too! Disbarred Lawyer Sues Fake German Heiress Anna Sorokin For Over $152,000 In Legal Fees

Anna Sorokin is heading back to court. This time the fake German heiress, also known as Anna Delvey, is being sued by her former attorney Audrey A. Thomas.

The now-disbarred lawyer recently filed her lawsuit in the Manhattan Supreme Court, according to the New York Post. Sorokin reportedly first hired Thomas in April 2020 to represent her in her criminal conviction appeal and an immigration case.

Sorokin was released from prison in February 2021 after serving four years of her $200,000 scam conviction. The inspiration behind Netflix’s “Inventing Anna,” Sorokin quickly ran into issues with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

By March 2021, she had turned herself into the agency for overstaying her visa and committing a felony. The one truth in her 60 million euro heiress story is that she is, in fact, a German native and immigrant.

Lawyer Files Lawsuit Against Anna Sorokin After Anna Sued Her First In 2022

Audrey Thomas’ lawsuit comes over six months since Anna Sorokin sued her first for allegedly guarding information in her immigration case.

Anna’s 2022 lawsuit, reported in September, claimed Thomas failed to “transfer all court files” to the felon’s new lawyer by the court-appointed deadline of August 5. Sorokin credited Thomas for sending two sets of documents on August 8 and 9, per New York Post. However, the fake heiress accused her former attorney of withholding audio recordings and some of her personal items. Audrey Thomas has denied all of Sorokin’s lawsuit allegations.

A few months later, Audrey Thomas was disbarred for allegedly misappropriating funds from the sale of a Brooklyn apartment owned by an elderly client.

As for her lawsuit, the attorney accuses Anna of trying to avoid her unpaid tab by slandering her in the press. The lawyer-client relationship reportedly ended in April 2022. In the suit, Thomas credits herself for keeping Sorokin in the U.S. despite the criminal circumstances.

“[Anna Sorokin] was able to remain in the United States because while she was taken to the airport and literally sitting in the gate area with her belongings in garbage bags, [Audrey Thomas] filed a writ and secured a stay from deportation removal,” New York Post reported.

Audrey Thomas’ lawsuit adds that her disbarment doesn’t excuse Anna from paying off her legal fees balance. The exact amount of money owed is unclear.
