“The Real Housewives of Potomac” star Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie Osefo, were arrested in Maryland and booked on multiple fraud charges tied to an alleged false insurance claim.
Investigators question the burglary story.
According to TMZ, Wendy and Eddie filed a police report earlier this year, claiming their home was burglarized while they were in Jamaica. They alleged that nearly half a million dollars’ worth of luxury items were stolen. Items, including jewelry and designer bags, were stolen during the break-in. However, investigators began to question the report after discovering inconsistencies in the couple’s claims.
Authorities allege that some of the items the Osefos claimed were stolen had already been returned for refunds before the burglary report was made. They also claim that Wendy was seen on social media wearing a ring she previously reported as missing. These findings led to a deeper investigation, resulting in the couple being charged. The Osefos were charged with multiple counts of fraud, including felony offenses for making false statements and filing fraudulent documents.
The fallout and next steps.
Both were taken into custody in Westminster, Maryland, and have since been released. Their next court appearance — a Hearing on Counsel — is scheduled for November 7th.
The current season is airing. There’s no word yet on whether this will affect Wendy’s status for next season.
