More Details Regarding Boosie’s Bond & Possible Release

According to The San Diego Union-Tribune, a “contentious hearing” occurred in a U.S. District Court on Tuesday. The outlet reports that the hearing was held so officials could decide whether to keep the rapper “detained.”

Boosie’s lawyer reportedly argued that the case against the rapper is “unnecessary federal prosecution.” While the assistant U.S. attorney reportedly argued that Boosie is a “flight risk,” which justifies his continued detainment.

Despite this argument, U.S. Magistrate Judge Allison Goddard granted the rapper a $50,000 bond.

Furthermore, the judge also denied the prosecution’s request for a “two-day delay” in Boosie’s release.

Currently, the rapper’s release date remains unclear. However, he is scheduled to return to court on Thursday, June 29, as previously reported by The Shade Room.

Boosie’s Legal Team Reportedly Condemned Police For The Rapper’s Arrest

According to The San Diego Union-Tribune, the rapper’s legal team also condemned law enforcement for its “misuse” of resources during Boosie’s arrest.

The rapper’s attorney reportedly argued that it was “outrageous” to use “so many resources” — including a helicopter. Meanwhile, his sole charge was being “a felon in possession of a firearm.”

Furthermore, the rapper’s legal team also argued that he is neither a danger to the community nor a flight risk. Instead, they believe Boosie is “being targeted because he’s a wealthy, successful Black man.”

Meghan Blanco, one of the rapper’s attorneys, also informed the judge that due to Boosie’s detainment, he missed performances at “several” Juneteenth events, which cost him a total of $160,000.

A second attorney for the rapper, Damon Alimouri, called the case a “scream of racism” and a “persecution, not a prosecution.”

More Details Regarding Boosie’s Initial Federal Arrest

As The Shade Room previously reported, Boosie was arrested outside of a San Diego courthouse immediately after having state gun charges dismissed.

A few days later, prosecutors reportedly sealed the rapper’s arrest warrant and criminal complaint, leaving the details of his arrest unknown. However, it soon surfaced that Boosie was taken in for possession of a weapon by a felon.

Additionally, it was revealed that federal agents used footage from an Instagram Live to justify the rapper’s arrest. The footage showed the rapper recording a music video with a firearm in his waistband.

Furthermore, the rapper was also found with the weapon in his vehicle during a May 6 arrest, as reported by The San Diego Union-Tribune.

The rapper’s prior felony convictions prohibit him from possessing a weapon which may have prompted Boosie to apologize to his children following his arrest.
