After weeks of back-and-forth diss tracks between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, reports surface that Schoolboy Q warned J. Cole to bow out before things got intense.

During this year’s Dreamville Festival, J. Cole shocked the world withdrawing his name from the biggest hip-hop battle of all time. After Kendrick Lamar’s “Like That” verse dissed the Dreamville boss and Drake, Cole fired back with “7 Minute Drill“. The song got social media buzzing and ready for what would come next in the feud. Unfortunately what came next was an apology from J. Cole and news the song would be removed from streaming services.

“I pray that my n—a really didn’t feel no way and if he did, my n—a, I got my chin out. Take your best shot, I’ma take that sh*t on the chin boy, do what you do.” – J. Cole said backtracking from his stance on “7 Minute Drill”.

For weeks we’ve wondered what J. Cole found out that made him immediately start copping pleas regardless of how it could look to anyone else.

According to AllHipHop, Schoolboy Q was gracious enough to give Cole the heads up that real shooting was about to begin and he should duck.

“I’m not specifying what kind of warning—whether it was a bullying move, a Deebo-like maneuver or just a friendly heads-up. I don’t think it matters at this point, but based on what Punch (TDE president) said, I think they gave him what he needed to hear to bow out of the battle with as much grace as possible.”- a staff member from AllHipHop Revealed.

If you know anything about Schoolboy Q you know how unintentionally funny he is so we like to imagine it was hilarious when he told Cole the seriousness of the situation. Looking back we don’t think anyone would disagree J. Cole made the right decision. Cole claimed he had been “sleeping good” for the past 10 years before bowing out.

Furthermore, if he didn’t bow out we are sure Kendrick would have ruined that peaceful sleeping by now.

Does this change your thoughts on Cole’s grace bow out and apology?
